中低山地地带，是蚊、蚋虻之类的吸血虫繁殖的地方。树丛里或是潮湿的高地草原带，更是蚊蚋滋生的温床。一旦被蚊虫咬伤，不但会痒（致痒的原因乃蚊子吸血时分泌唾液所致。），也可能产生其他的并发症，因此，为了预防虫害，最好选择宽阔、干燥又通风的地方做为露营地。为避免遭受蚊虫侵扰；携带方便的蚊香可以加以利用，也可用驱蚊药水涂抹全身；在没有驱蚊物的情况下，可以利用树叶的气味来熏蚊虫，在帐篷内以艾草熏蚊虫，效果不错。蚋与虻虫其咬伤力比蚊子更厉害，被咬伤后，皮肤红肿的情况也更严重，甚至会引起皮肤炎。这两种虫类，随时都会侵害我们，就连白天行走于山中都会被咬伤，所以只有尽可能的不使皮肤暴露在空气中。不幸被咬伤时，可用阿摩尼亚水或抗组织胺剂类的固醇类软膏来治疗。
