徒步旅游个人行装除了应携带上述基本物品外，很重要的是要有一双自己认为穿着舒适而便于远行的鞋子，鞋底不能太薄，切忌穿新皮鞋，衣服最好是便于吸汗和散热的棉织品，夏天上衣可穿翻领运动衫，春秋穿高领毛衣，冬天则穷人穿轻而暖和的绒衣。夏天上衣应穿长袖的，以免暴晒胳臂衣服淡色为宜，冬天则宜穿深色服装；裤子男士最好穿纹布牛仔裤，女士穿马裤，夏天要备一顶草帽、一副太阳镜。

登山旅游个人行装基本与徒步旅游个人行装相同，要累便易携，坚固耐用，便于拆卸，一物多用。登山不宜穿皮鞋、新鞋、高跟鞋、塑料底鞋或脚趾裸露的凉鞋穿这些不适合走高低不平的路和湿路，而且脚底容易起泡，脚部皮肤容易受伤。登山应穿登山鞋、旅游鞋、球鞋、胶鞋或布鞋。这类鞋轻便、有弹性，比较合脚，因而能保护脚，不易磨伤起泡，也不易受外伤可被蛇咬伤，同时便于登高，走路。衣服最好穿较轻便的绒衫或茄克衫或登山服，必须穿长裤，以免划伤，咬伤，又可防冷风。
